Kathrin Hoyos was born in Germany and grew up in Greece and Belgium. After graduating from School in Belgium she moved to Germany to study architecture. She worked with AS&P, an architecture and town planning office in Frankfurt until she emigrated to South Africa in the late 90’s.
During her time in South Africa Kathrin participated in setting up the community project and children's home Baphumelele in the township of Khayelitsha for a period of ten years.
In 2012 she moved with her family to the principality of Monaco. Kathrin is married, the mother of two children and the owner of a reasonably sized dog.
Kathrin started taking photographs as a teenager. After completing a two year course in photography in Cape Town this hobby has turned into a real passion.
